Private Pilates in Mequon, WI
Support for strength, posture, mobility, and confident movement through individualized one-on-one Pilates sessions.
Not sure your body is ready for a group Pilates class? Nervous that the wrong exercise will flare up your back, irritate your hip, or worsen the pressure you feel in your pelvis? You are not alone, and you do not have to figure it out on your own.
Private Pilates at Cultivate Your Wellbeing guides you back into Pilates, or introduces you to it for the very first time, with a pelvic health physical therapist by your side. Every session is one-on-one. We modify as needed and give your body what it needs, so you build strength and confidence instead of second-guessing every movement. Whether your goal is ongoing one-on-one strengthening or building the confidence to join a group class at a local studio, we will help you get there.
Private Pilates is offered at our Mequon office.
Who we work with
We work with people who are:
Getting ready to join a group class and want to learn their modifications first
Returning to Pilates after an injury, surgery, pregnancy, or time away
Trying Pilates for the very first time
Managing back or hip pain, pelvic pressure, prolapse, or leaking
Finishing pelvic floor physical therapy and ready for the next step
Pregnant, postpartum, or navigating menopause
Looking for private instruction instead of a busy studio
You do not need any Pilates experience, and you do not need to be a current physical therapy patient. Private Pilates is open to anyone in the community who wants a personalized approach to movement.
What makes our private Pilates sessions different?
Our Pilates instructors are pelvic health physical therapy specialists. We bring that clinical knowledge into every session and combine it with Pilates programming that is right for your body, so each exercise has a purpose and every progression fits where you are today.
That expertise shows up in how we approach:
Pressure. How breathing, bracing, and effort affect your abdomen and pelvic floor, and how to manage that pressure during challenging exercises.
Prolapse or leaking. Which movements feel supportive for you right now, and how to progress with confidence rather than fear.
Pain. Whether in the back, hips, or pelvis, we can adjust positions, load, and range of motion so movement feels good and sustainable.
Coordination, not just strength. A strong pelvic floor also needs to relax and respond. We look at both, and we never assume your muscles are simply weak or simply tight.
Our goal is not to keep you with us forever. Many of our clients use Private Pilates as a bridge: a place to build skills, learn the modifications that work for their body, and then join a group class or exercise on their own with confidence. If you leave knowing exactly how to adjust a footwork series or a roll-up when you need to, that is a success.
What happens during a session?
Each private session is 60 minutes and takes place in a private setting at our Mequon office. Your first session starts with a conversation about your goals, your health and movement history, and anything you want us to keep in mind, such as pain, pregnancy, prolapse, or a past injury.
From there, a session may include:
Breath and movement preparation to connect breathing, posture, and your deep core and pelvic floor
Reformer work using spring resistance that can be adjusted to provide support or challenge
Mat exercises you can carry into home practice or a future group class
Small props such as balls, bands, and rings to add feedback, support, or variety
We explain the "why" behind what we are doing, check in about how each movement feels, and adjust as we go. Over time, sessions progress as your strength, coordination, and confidence grow.
Private Pilates and physical therapy: how they fit together
Although a physical therapist leads every session, Private Pilates is a wellness service. It is separate from skilled physical therapy and is not a substitute for it when clinical care is needed.
Here is how we think about the difference:
Pelvic floor physical therapy begins with an evaluation and focuses on assessing and treating specific concerns such as pain, bladder or bowel symptoms, prolapse, or recovery after birth or surgery. Learn more about our pelvic floor physical therapy services.
Private Pilates focuses on building strength, mobility, posture, and body awareness through Pilates-based exercise, adapted to you.
If you come to Pilates with symptoms that would benefit from a full evaluation, we will tell you honestly and help you decide on the best next step. And if you have just finished therapy with us, Pilates can be a natural way to keep building on the progress you made.

Pilates can be useful in all of these conditions if modified to what serves your body best. Individualized instruction is one of the best ways to begin. We help you learn how to manage pressure and which modifications make movement feel supportive for you. If symptoms change or new concerns come up, we will talk with you about whether an evaluation makes sense.
