Pelvic Health Physical Therapy Mequon

Specialized, one-on-one pelvic health care just off I-43

Our Mequon office is the home base of Cultivate Your Wellbeing. It is where you will find private treatment rooms, a gym space for movement and strength work, and Private Pilates, which is offered only at this location.

Whether you are navigating pelvic pain, bladder or bowel changes, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, or menopause, you deserve to feel heard, supported, and taken seriously. Every visit is 60 minutes, one-on-one, with a doctor of physical therapy who specializes in pelvic health.

Care that looks at your whole story

Every person who comes to see us has a story. When your symptoms started, how they have changed, and what you have already tried. Many of our patients have already worked through a handout of generic exercises or had appointments that never quite got to the root of what they were feeling. If that sounds familiar, you are not alone, and it does not mean your body cannot change. Often it means a piece of the picture has not been looked at yet.

That is where specialized pelvic health care makes a difference. Our doctors of physical therapy have advanced training in pelvic health, and we take the time to understand how your pelvic floor is actually working: whether the muscles can contract, relax, and coordinate with your breath, and how they respond to pressure, movement, and the demands of your day. With your consent, this may include an internal pelvic floor assessment, which can give us detailed information about muscle tone, coordination, and tenderness. It is always your choice, and we can learn a great deal through external assessment, too.

We also look beyond the pelvic floor, because it never works alone. Your hips, spine, abdomen, breathing, bladder and bowel habits, scar tissue, and nervous system can all be part of the picture. The goal is not simply to create the strongest pelvic floor possible. Some people need strength, others need to learn to let go, and many need a bit of both.

Most of all, your plan is built around you. Our 60-minute, one-on-one visits in Mequon give us time to hear your full history, answer your questions, and explain what we find in a way that makes sense. Together, we set goals that matter in your life: running again, enjoying intimacy without pain, making it through a workday without mapping out every bathroom, or lifting your kids with confidence. You are an active partner in your care, and your plan evolves as you do.

We treat women, men, and children across the lifespan.

How We Can Help

Pelvic health concerns can show up in many different ways, and they often affect more than just one part of life. At Cultivate, we provide personalized pelvic health physical therapy for women, men, children, and people across all life stages.

Explore the areas below to learn more about how we can support your body, your symptoms, and your goals.

Pelvic Pain Treatment

Pelvic pain can be frustrating and deeply personal. Whether you are dealing with painful sex, coccyx pain, vestibulodynia, bladder pain, pain with sitting, painful periods, or pain after birth or surgery, we look at the whole picture and build a plan around you. Your pain is real, and you deserve to feel heard and supported.

Men’s Pelvic Therapy

We help men with pelvic and perineal pain, urinary urgency and leakage, constipation, sexual health concerns, and recovery before and after prostate surgery. These symptoms can be very frustrating but are treatable..

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Prolapse can show up as heaviness, pressure, or bulging. We help you understand what is happening, manage pressure, and coordinate your pelvic floor and core so you can keep lifting, exercising, and doing what you love. Physical therapy can benefit you whether or not you also use a pessary or are considering surgery.

Musculoskeletal Pain

Back, hip, or tailbone pain that keeps coming back, even after stretching, strengthening, or other care, can be so frustrating. The pelvic floor may be the missing link. We look at how your pelvic floor, core, hips, and functional movement patterns work together to help your progress last.

Pregnancy Pelvic Therapy & Birth Preparation

We help with pregnancy back pain, pelvic girdle and pubic symphysis pain, leakage, and constipation, and help you prepare your pelvic floor for labor, pushing, and VBAC. Feel stronger and more confident heading into birth.

Bladder Concerns

We treat stress incontinence, urge incontinence, overactive bladder, urinary frequency, nighttime urination, and bladder pain by looking at pelvic floor coordination, habits, and the whole body. You deserve to feel in control again.

Menopause & Hormonal Changes

Perimenopause and menopause can bring bladder urgency, leaking, vaginal dryness, and pain with intimacy, often called genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). These changes are common, but you do not have to live with them. We help you feel strong, comfortable, and confident through this season of life.

Clogged Ducts & Lactation Support

Clogged ducts, breast pain, and mastitis can make feeding feel overwhelming. We offer gentle, research-informed care, including lymphatic drainage, therapeutic ultrasound, kinesiotaping, and feeding position support, to calm inflamed tissue and help you feel more comfortable.

Postpartum Recovery

Being cleared at your six-week visit does not always mean you feel ready to lift, run, or enjoy intimacy again. We help bridge that gap with individualized care for leaking, pelvic pressure, diastasis recti, C-section or perineal scar discomfort, and returning to exercise, so you can reach your goals with confidence.

Bowel Concerns

We help with chronic constipation, straining, incomplete emptying, pelvic floor dyssynergia, and bowel leakage through pelvic floor coordination, toileting strategies, and hands-on abdominal care. Bathroom struggles are common, and help is available.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis pain is not just bad cramps. We help with painful periods, pain with intimacy, bowel and bladder symptoms, and pain that lingers after surgery, working alongside your gynecologist or endometriosis specialist. We take your symptoms seriously and help you feel more like yourself.

Hysterectomy Recovery

Hysterectomy recovery does not end when restrictions are lifted. Before or after surgery, we help with pelvic pressure, bladder and bowel changes, pain with intimacy, scar sensitivity, and rebuilding core strength so you can return to the activities you love with confidence.

What you will find at our Mequon office

A larger gym, outside your treatment room

Our Mequon office has a larger gym space just outside our private treatment rooms, so you have plenty of room to move. If your goals include running, jumping, lifting, or getting back to a sport or workout routine, we can work through the full movement here, not a scaled-down version of it. You can go from hands-on treatment in a private room to active practice in the gym within the same visit. Movement is part of your care at both of our offices; in Mequon, you simply have more space to do it.

Private Pilates, offered only in Mequon

Not sure you are ready for a group Pilates class? Nervous about reinjuring your back or hip, or worsening the pressure you feel in your pelvis? Our Private Pilates sessions are one-on-one and led by pelvic health physical therapists. We guide you back into Pilates, or introduce you to it for the very first time, and modify as needed to give your body what it needs. Whether your goal is ongoing one-on-one strengthening or building the confidence to join a group class at a local studio, we will help you get there. Learn more about Private Pilates.

Bring the kids, we've got you

Our clinic in Mequon offers options for childcare during your session for mom's to truly focus on themselves.

No childcare? No problem. Let us know ahead of time, and one of our front office team members will be available to help during your appointment. Kids can stay in the room with you, or play with toys in the gym while our team rocks babies and keeps little ones busy, so you can focus on your care. (Childcare support is available at our Mequon office only.)

Private treatment rooms

Convenient access from Ozaukee County and the North Shore

Our Mequon office is on Glen Oaks Lane, just off North Port Washington Road, which runs alongside I-43. From the highway, take either the Highland Road or Mequon Road exit (we are between the two), head to North Port Washington Road, and turn onto Glen Oaks Lane. It is an easy drive from Mequon, Thiensville, Cedarburg, Grafton, Saukville, and Port Washington, as well as Brown Deer, River Hills, Glendale, Fox Point, Bayside, and Whitefish Bay to the south.

Parking and finding our suite

There is ample parking around the building, and you can enter from either the front or the back. For the easiest route, drive around to the south side of the building, where you will see a gazebo. Come in through that door, and we are the first suite past the mail room.

One helpful tip: the suite numbers in our building are not in order, so following the numbers can be confusing. Look for us at the end of the hallway on the first floor.

What to expect at your first visit

Before your visit, we will send you a comprehensive health history form. Your physical therapist reviews it before you walk in the door, so your appointment time can go toward you, not paperwork.

Your first appointment is a 60-minute evaluation, one-on-one with your physical therapist. We start with conversation: what brought you in, what matters most to you, and what you have already tried. If you have had pelvic health physical therapy before and did not get the results you hoped for, we want to hear about it. Knowing what has not worked helps us do things differently for you. Then we look at posture, breathing, movement, strength, and how your hips, back, and abdomen are working together.

An internal pelvic floor assessment can give us helpful information, but it is always optional. We explain what it involves and why it might be useful, and you decide what feels right for you. Many people make great progress without one, and you can change your mind at any visit.

Education is part of every first visit. The better you understand your body, the more meaningful the changes you make in your habits, exercise, and movement will be. Before you leave, you will have a clearer picture of what may be contributing to your symptoms, a plan for next steps, and a few things you can start working on at home. Depending on your needs, treatment may include education, individualized exercise, breathing and pressure strategies, movement retraining, manual therapy, scar work, visceral or neural manipulation, or dry needling. Not everyone needs every approach; your plan is built around you.

Have questions before your first visit? Our blog post "Should I Shave for This?" and Other Pelvic PT Panic Questions answers the ones people are often nervous to ask.
